Did I mention we’re moving to China?

It’s hard to believe, but in one week from today I will be boarding a plane. Destination: Guangzhou, China.

Almost a year ago my boyfriend, Ben, and I started looking for work teaching English as a second language overseas… just for the experience. We finally got hired by a Chinese company called English First and after a summer of paperwork and vaccinations we are now ready to move to our new home of Guangzhou -pronounced “Gwong-joe” and also known as Canton.

So, on October 7th Ben and I leave the Seattle airport for an 11-hour flight to a 15-hour layover in Seoul before our final 4-hour flight to Guangzhou. Luckily, we happen to have a friend in Seoul who will help us take advantage of our time there.

Once we arrive in Guangzhou we’ll be picked up and taken to a hotel to rest for the next two days. On Monday, we’ll be shown how to get to our offices, get bank accounts and cell phones, and begin our apartment hunt. After the first week we’ll begin taking over classes.

Throughout our time there (probably just the next year or two) I’ll make sure to update this blog to keep everyone informed. I would love to hear updates from home as well!
